Donald Sheppard, my father's cousin helps organise the annual veterans trip to Normandy in France to commemorate the D-Day landings of WWII.

Don, 94, was an engineer, attached to the 51st Highland Division during the Allied assault. In a video interview, shot by his grand-daughter, with two of his comrades Don reported how his division lost 9,000 fellow soldiers from the day they landed.

Link to the Echo News article and video: http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/local_news/11210420.Video__Teen_pals__film_shares_Normandy_veterans__stories_with_the_world/?ref=rss

In fact he's over there as we speak. This trip is particularly poignant as it will probably be Don's last trip. On this very special 70th anniversary of the landings isn't it marvellous that on his FaceBook page he states that he'll FaceTime his 'missus' later on!
